Nearly 10 years after brass tapware and bathroom accessories re-entered the Australian design scene, the golden hue is again a strong favourite. Brushed brass is a timeless finish that can still be found in heritage Australian homes. Now, brass kitchen mixers, basin tap sets, showers, cabinet handles and accessories continue to be incorporated into residential and commercial interior designs.
Working with texture and colours
We work closely with customers to create the perfect product selection, no matter what style they prefer.
Whether they are creating a vintage or modern look, working with crisp white tiles, marble or timber, customers are choosing to either incorporate brushed brass as a subtle accent or to make a statement with elaborate brass that’s dark, rich and bold.
Brass in bathroom, kitchen and laundry design
Brass is an incredibly versatile finish. Even using brass in a few areas can have a big impact on the overall warmth of a space. A brass mixer tap in the laundry can really amp up utility spaces.

Choosing the right brass
Depending on the look you’re trying to achieve, brass is great as either a “brushed” polished finish, or an un-lacquered “living” or organic metal that changes over time.
As it ages, the raw brass surface will further evolve as it reacts to the atmosphere. Areas that are touched by hand become lighter, while areas that are rarely touched darken and oxidise to create a beautiful organic appearance.
Brushed brass generally won’t have the same effect, but if you’re looking for a highly durable finish we suggest opting for a tapware and accessory brand that offers PVD (physical vapour deposition) for extra peace of mind.

Choosing a brushed or living finish really comes down to personal taste.
Our verdict
Brass works in both contemporary and more traditional spaces, and pairs perfectly with multiple textures and colours, making it one of the most diverse tap, accessory, shower and mixer finishes. Brass is timeless and we expect to see its popularity remain in coming years.
